Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)


Eligibility

WIC provides nutrition education and supplemental foods to income eligible Kansas women who are pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding. Services are also provided to infants and children under the age of 5 years. These services are free of charge to Kansas families who qualify.

Income Guidelines

Income guidelines are 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines

  • $30,044 annually for a household of 2
  • $37,777 annually for a household of 3
  • $37,777 annually for a household of 4
  • $53,243 annually for a household of 5
Available Services:
  • Personalized nutrition information and support
  • Electronic benefit transfer cards to buy healthy food
  • Health and wellness tips
  • Breastfeeding Support
  • Referrals to community resources and support
The supplemental foods that WIC offers are:
  • Infant formula, infant cereal, baby food – fruits/vegetables and meats
  • Milk-whole, reduced, lactose free, evaporated, nonfat dry
  • Eggs
  • Cheese
  • Fresh, canned or frozen fruits and vegetables
  • 100% juice
  • Hot and cold cereal
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned or dried beans
  • Fish-tuna or salmon
  • Whole grains- whole wheat bread/rolls/buns, tortillas, brown rice, oatmeal
